WATCH YOUR STEPS AND THE COMPANY YOU KEEP
(Psalm 1)
Blessed is the one who does not follow the steps of the wicked, nor stand in the way that sinners take, or sit in the company of mockers. (“Tell me your friends, and I will tell you who you are.”)
Instead, make friends with those who delight in the law of the Lord and meditate on his law day and night. (A good company breeds good character.)
Such people are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield fruit in season, do not wither, and whatever they do prospers. The handwork of God is evident in their lives.
On the other hand, the wicked are like chaff that the wind blows away. Their wrong judgment of the righteous shall not stand before the Lord. (The Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.)
