Dr Prince Nduka Alum
My Story
Dr Prince Nduka Alum, born in Enugu, completed his primary and secondary education at Central School, Ngwo and Government Secondary School, Afikpo respectively. He worked briefly as a Clerical Officer at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, supplementing it with running a mini poultry farm and writing didactic drama for youth fellowship activities and school drama for Enugu State Television Authority before proceeding to Italy in 1983 to further his education.
He obtained a first-class Technical Baccalaureate Diploma from the State Agricultural Technical Institute Basile-Caramia of Locorotondo, Italy. He proceeded to the University of Florence, where he graduated summa cum laude from the Faculty of Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture and was awarded the Degree of Doctor in Tropical and Subtropical Agriculture.
Experience & Achievements
Dr Alum worked with the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation in Ethiopia as an Associate Professional Officer and consultant agronomist in various countries. He later returned to Italy to continue his research on temperate fruits in tropical climes, but the death of his professor abruptly interrupted his career as a research fellow.
He swiftly went into agro-related business, and by 1999, he owned a franchise of fifteen African shopping centres all over Italy and a branch in the United Kingdom. The Financial Times and Italy Daily published articles on his franchise as the most prominent outlets of African food, cosmetics, and artefacts in Europe. In 1998, The Linus Magazine described his enterprises as the “Miracoli neri” (The black miracle).
Behind the Doors of Fate is his debut novel.
