APPLYING KNOWLEDGE, WISDOM, UNDERSTANDING, AND WORK TO FAITH
(Proverbs 4:7; James 2:17; John 8:31–32)

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7)

“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” (James 2:17)

“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.’” (John 8:31–32)

Freedom in Christ is not sustained by a single act of deliverance but by continual growth in the things of God. Even Jesus, though fully divine, submitted Himself to a process of growth in His humanity. He “grew in wisdom, stature, and in favour with God and man”
(Luke 2:52).

His statement to His mother at the wedding in Cana “My time has not yet come” reveals that He understood seasons, preparation, and the discipline of waiting.

For us, freedom matures through the balance of knowledge, wisdom, understanding, work, and favour.

Knowledge is discovering God’s truth in His Word. Without it, we walk in darkness.

Wisdom is applying that truth correctly, making choices that align with God’s will.

Understanding is deeper insight, perceiving God’s purpose for your life and the “why” behind His instructions.

Work is the expression of faith through obedience, service, and action. Faith without this visible expression is incomplete.

Favour is God’s divine enablement, often manifesting through opportunities, partnerships, and the goodwill of people. Stop saying, “God is all I need because it is not true.

When these five elements operate together, freedom becomes practical, fruitful, and undeniable. This is when Jesus’ words echo in reality: “If the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).

Food for thought: Am I applying the knowledge of God’s Word to my daily activities, or am I still depending only on emotional prayers and feelings rather than work and a relationship with the divine?
