A BROKEN SPIRIT GOD DOES NOT DESPISE
(Psalm 51:17; Matthew 5:3)
The only sacrifice God truly desires from us is a contrite and broken spirit, a heart eager to listen, learn, and follow the gentle leading of the Holy Spirit. This is the true essence of trust and obedience.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” In other words, blessed are those who are humble in spirit, willing and ready to allow God’s Spirit to reboot and reprogram their inner being, cleansing and deleting the viruses of pride and false teachings that have corrupted their original design.
A broken spirit does not mean a depressed or downtrodden heart. Rather, it speaks of one who has learned the sacred secret of confiding in God and leaning wholly on Him in all times and seasons. Such a heart is malleable, teachable, and transformable, filled with quiet strength. It is this kind of heart that Heaven never despises.
May the Lord create in us a heart that is humble and teachable. Help us to trust Him fully, surrender our pride, and embrace His Spirit’s guidance, so that our lives may be a sacrifice pleasing in His sight.
