GOD IS LOVE

Scripture Reflection:
“God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” — 1 John 4:16

Love is often described as a strong feeling or deep affection for someone or something. Yet in the Kingdom of God, love is far more than emotion. It is a will to give, to care, and to sacrifice. This is why Scripture says, “For God so loved the world that He gave.” Love that does not give is not love, it is sentiment.

True love does not keep records of what it will receive. It does not give to collect. It does not please to manipulate. Many people pretend to love, but their actions reveal that they are only investors looking for profit. When their expectations are not met, their so-called love collapses.

When you view love only through the lens of what you get from another person, you are not loving; you are harvesting. You become a collector rather than a lover. God’s kind of love, agape, flows in the opposite direction. It gives freely, serves willingly, and remains faithful even when nothing comes back in return.

What you truly love is what you are willing to care for, protect, and nurture.
What you only collect from is what you are merely using.

God’s love is not transactional. It is transformational. As we abide in His love, we are called to love the same way, not for what we can gain, but for what we can give.
