CURIOUS OR INQUISITIVE?
(Proverbs 25:2)

“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.” – Proverbs 25:2 (NIV)

Are you curious or inquisitive? Has anyone ever admonished you with the saying, “Curiosity killed the cat”?

Is it wrong to be curious or inquisitive? And to what extent is it safe or wise to do so?

The truth is, curiosity in itself is not bad. God has placed within us a longing to know, to discover, and to explore. It is this divine spark that leads us to seek knowledge, grow in wisdom, and deepen our understanding of Him and His creation.

Proverbs 25:2 reminds us that while God conceals certain matters in His infinite wisdom, it is our glory and responsibility to seek them out in humility and faith.

The danger comes when curiosity is driven by idle speculation, gossip, or a desire to meddle in things God has not called us to pursue. Such curiosity can lead to distraction, confusion, or even harm.

But when our inquisitiveness is anchored in a genuine hunger for truth and guided by the Holy Spirit, it becomes a holy pursuit, drawing us closer to God’s heart and purposes.

Remember: *
“Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.” True satisfaction comes only from seeking the One who is the source of all knowledge and wisdom.*
