DON’T TRY SO HARD TO BE HOLY, AND FORGET TO BE HUMAN (Matthew 5:36-37)

Holy is a derivative of the word “Whole.” Being “ONE-WHOLE” or HOLY means:

  • Displaying INTEGRITY in all dealings with fellow humans
  • Being SOUND in mind, thought, and deed
  • Consistency in character, even when no one is looking

To be holy is to be authentic, not perfect.

  • Do not pretend or act to impress others
  • Seek help when needed
  • Only offer assistance if you have the means and intention to help
  • Avoid swearing to affirm intentions

AS JESUS TAUGHT: “Let your ‘YES’ be ‘YES,’ and your ‘NO,’ ‘NO.’ For whatever is more than these comes from the evil one.” (Matthew 5:37)
