HAPPINESS IS A FUNCTION OF YOUR THOUGHTS
“Bible Reflection:*
“As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” — Proverbs 23:7
Happiness does not begin in your environment. It begins in your mind. Too many people chase joy in places where it can never be found: in money, status, possessions, recognition, or the approval of others. These things may excite you for a moment, but they cannot sustain your inner peace.
No one but you ultimately holds your happiness. Not your spouse, your employer, your pastor, your government, or your friends. They may influence your emotions, but they do not control your joy unless you permit them to.
Happiness is a product of your thoughts. When your thoughts are rooted in gratitude, faith, hope, and trust in God, your heart becomes a home for joy. But when your mind is filled with comparison, bitterness, resentment, fear, and envy, you imprison yourself in emotional darkness.
Your choices matter. Every day you choose what to dwell on. You can choose peace or panic, faith or fear, forgiveness or bitterness, light or darkness. What you feed your mind will determine the atmosphere of your life.
Guard your thoughts. Train your mind to see God in every situation, to trust His timing, and to believe that your life is in His hands.
