HE THAT WANTS FRIENDS MUST FIRST OF ALL PUT LOVE ON THE GROUND

True friendship begins where love is sown

“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” (Proverbs 18:24)

Friendship is one of the purest gifts of life, yet it is often the most misunderstood. Many long for loyal friends and people who will stand beside them through the calm and the storm, but few are willing to sow the seed that makes such friendship flourish: love.

Love is the ground upon which true friendship grows. Without love, friendship becomes shallow and self-serving. But when love takes root, it nurtures loyalty, trust, patience, and understanding. It turns ordinary relationships into sacred bonds that reflect the heart of God.

To put love on the ground is to lead with kindness, not calculation. It means giving without expecting, forgiving without counting offences, and showing mercy even when it feels undeserved. It is seeing others through the eyes of compassion, not convenience.

Every lasting friendship begins with someone who dared to love first. When you choose to plant love, you create an atmosphere where peace and goodwill thrive. Love disarms pride, melts suspicion, and opens doors where walls once stood.

The world often says, “Find people who love you.” But God’s wisdom says, “Show yourself friendly.” True love does not wait to be received; it moves first. It acts. It gives. It believes. And in time, it draws to itself those who are moved by the same Spirit of love.

So, if you desire genuine companionship, start by sowing love. Speak gentle words. Lend a listening ear. Forgive easily. Celebrate others sincerely. Every act of love you put on the ground becomes a seed that Heaven waters, and one day, it blossoms into friendships that stand the test of time.

Food for thought; Am I waiting to be loved, or am I planting love first?
