THE STILL SMALL VOICE

THE STILL SMALL VOICE

Scripture Reflection:
“And after the earthquake, a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire, a still small voice.”
(1 Kings 19:12)

When life grows noisy and restless, we often search for God in dramatic signs — in the thunder, the wind, and the fire. Like Elijah, we expect His presence to shake the mountains, silence the storms, and showcase our faith before our perceived enemies.

Yet more often than not, God shows up quietly and gently, in the still small voice that speaks to the depths of our heart of understanding, not to our carnal ears.

God’s voice is not always heard with the ears but felt in the heart. It is that subtle quest to forgive, that inner peace when you choose to stand by the truth, that sudden calm that follows a moment of surrender. His voice never competes with noise; it waits for silence. It is not heard through anxiety, but through trust and obedience.

To hear God, our minds must be quiet and our souls still, free from anxiety. The Spirit does not shout over chaos; He whispers through peace. The more we cultivate stillness, the clearer His guidance becomes.

*When your heart is synchronized with His voice, you begin to recognize it in unexpected moments, in the kindness of a stranger, those human angels God sends your way, in a verse that meets your need, or in that sudden knowing that all will be well.

To walk in divine awareness is to live listening — not just with the ears, but with the heart.

Food for Thought: The still small voice is always speaking, but only a still heart can hear it. Silence is not emptiness; it is the language of God.
