PRIDE GOES BEFORE A FALL
(Proverbs 16:18)
“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

When we allow pride to take root in our hearts, it can lead to a downward spiral of destruction and ultimately, a great fall.
Pride can lead to destruction in our relationships, careers, and overall well-being. When we become too full of ourselves, we can become blind to our own flaws and weaknesses.
A Haughty Spirit is characterised by arrogance, disdain, and a lack of humility. This kind of spirit can lead to a fall, as it did for Lucifer, who was cast out of heaven due to his pride (Isaiah 14:12-15).
The fall that Proverbs 16:18 warns us about is not just a physical fall, but a spiritual and emotional one as well. When we allow pride to consume us, we can fall away from God, our relationships, and our own sense of purpose.
The Antidote to Pride is Humility, self-control, willingness to unlearn old habits that are not bearing good fruit, and zeal to learn and apply work to faith.
