WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A “GOD”?
This does not mean we are equal to the Almighty God in nature, origin, or authority, but it means we are His offspring, partakers of His divine essence or coheirs as Jesus explained (2 Peter 1:4).
We are not mere flesh and blood. We are spirit beings, created in God’s image, likeness or character (Genesis 1:26–27).
When God breathed into Adam, He imparted His very life or spirit “and man became a living soul trapped inside a vessel or body adapted to live and occupy the earth and fulfill God’s purpose for a given time” (Genesis 2:7)
The word used for “gods” in Psalm 82:6 is Elohim, a divine title. God shares His name and heritage with His children, not out of blasphemy but because identity flows from origin or source
You are, therefore, not just a servant of God or a follower; you are His child, and a child of a lion is still a lion. A child of God carries the seed of God and does exploits for His name’s sake here on earth.
